I’m not brilliant a pinpointing the exact emotion but we’ve found that just saying I’m having big feelings is enough to create a pause. It also helps my husband understand that shit might be about to go south and he should probably pay attention. Helps to differentiate from when I’m furious at the kettle for no reason.
It sounds like you have found a way that works for you 😊 thank you Jen for taking the time to read my post and reach out in a comment. Have a great day ❤️
I am ever so grateful to receive your posts. This one in particular was inspiring because I frequently forget to stay in the present and often think that outcomes should always be the way I want them to be. Thank you for providing the tools so important for remaining steady.
Hi Jean, I hope you are keeping well. Lovely to hear from you. I am so pleased you are enjoying my posts, thank you for your kind words. Yes we don't always get what we want hey, but what we need! Here's to remaining steady! ❤️ enjoy the rest of your day.
Thank you for sharing this. I’m in my late 50s and this is the lesson of the last year for me. I’m working on letting life be, trusting that the Universe will work it all out and that I’ll cope without needing to over think everything. Slow and steady progress.
Hi Geraldine, you are very welcome. Thank you for taking the time to read my post and comment. Certainly a regular body practice (for me yoga) helps me to not overthink everything. Yes slow and steady has helped me also in discovering my baseline, each step cultivates more stability in the everyday, and helps me cope with all the ups and downs that life presents me. Wishing you a lovely rest of day ❤️
So familiar, that feeling of wishing something were different. Great advice for dealing with it. A practice that has helped me greatly is a combination of two of your suggestions. I do sensory meditation on my walks, tuning into one sense at a time, then dropping into whatever sense bubbles up. Keeps me out of my head and fully present. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for taking the time to read and comment Leslie. Great to hear this helps you. Walking meditations are so great, it totally slows me down when I tune into my senses. Nice to appreciate body time, rather than head time ❤️ enjoy your day!
Hi Tracey, I've recently discovered you (I think through midstack 🤔) and really loved this post. ❤️
Hi Eva, lovely to Substack meet you. Thank you for taking the time to read my post and reach out. So glad you enjoyed it 🙏
